Healthcare Week Luxembourg (HWL)

High-tech shapes the future of health

Healthcare Week Luxembourg (HWL) took place on October 1st and 2nd, 2024 and centred around the theme “The Future of Healthcare: Value for All.” Healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers from all over Europe convened to discuss the major transformation that the health sector is undergoing and identify the priorities, role models and roadmaps that help turn the vision of a healthcare system creating value for all into reality.

HWL24 featured a well-rounded agenda that underscored the latest trends, pivotal innovations, and the challenges that the healthcare industry faces today.

Notable speakers included representatives from the Luxembourg government, Bogi Eliasen from the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies, Jean-Philippe Arié of Luxinnovation, and Philippe Turk, President of the Fédération des Hôpitaux Luxembourgeois (FHL) and mastermind of HWL.

In addition, the event celebrated remarkable contributions to the field with the HWL Awards, which acknowledged excellence in medical research, hospital administration, and innovative start-ups.

Supported by key partners including the Luxembourg Institute of Health, Luxinnovation, and the Ministry of the Economy of Luxembourg, the initiative sought to highlight innovative projects in the region across three specific categories: start-ups, medical research, and managerial innovation.

Hosted by FHL, the conference was organized by the French event agency Quinze Mai, based in Paris. The international promotion and public relations for HWL 2024 were entrusted to waveL.

waveL crafted a strategic communication plan and developed an extensive package to articulate the event’s core narratives, producing a strategic storybook in three languages. The storybook served as a unified communication tool to effectively convey the conference’s key themes and create customized content that aligned with the interests and needs of the health sector.

In a subsequent workflow, waveL assumed the responsibility of identifying and contacting various general and specialized media outlets. The objective was to strategically position and promote the event across France, Belgium, and Germany.

waveL facilitated interviews with prominent experts and key stakeholders in the health sector, ensuring their insights reached a wider audience. These discussions not only enhanced the content for the publications but also helped establish HWL as a credible authority in the industry.

For instance, the German news agency DPA interviewed Philippe Turk and Ulf Nehrbass, CEO of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), a public biomedical research institution focused on precision health. This story garnered a total print circulation of 1.2 million copies across Germany and appeared in various national and regional newspapers.

As part of its media outreach strategy, waveL also facilitated the formation of strategic media partnerships with esteemed publications known for their strong reputation in the health sector. A notable collaboration was established with FOCUS Gesundheit, a leading magazine in Germany published by Hubert Burda Media, recognized for its comprehensive coverage of health-related topics.

A partnership was also established with Le Journal du Médecin in Belgium, a publication by the Roularta Media Group, recognized for its credible perspectives on medical advancements and healthcare topics.

The second edition of HWL, held on October 1st and 2nd, 2024, attracted 3,000 attendees, marking a 32% increase in participation on the first day compared to the previous year.

In January 2025, FHL and Quinze Mai entrusted waveL with the national and international promotion and public relations responsibilities for the upcoming 2025 conference scheduled for October 7th and 8th under the overarching topic: Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare Professionals.
