NEXUS 2026 opens in Luxembourg with focus on European Sovereignty and AI Innovation

LUXEMBOURG, 10 June 2026 — NEXUS Luxembourg 2026 opened today, welcoming more than 10,000 participants from over 50 countries for two days of discussions, networking and innovation focused on artificial intelligence, technology and Europe’s digital future.

Held on 10 to 11 June at LuxExpo The Box, the summit has established itself as one of Europe’s leading technology gatherings, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, researchers and corporate leaders. This year’s edition features more than 150 speakers, five stages, immersive exhibition areas and a business matchmaking programme designed to foster collaboration across sectors.

NEXUS 2026 introduces a curated 4-in-1 format built around four strategic pillars: the Intelligence Forum, focused on AI, cybersecurity and automation; the Fintech Sphere, exploring the future of financial services and digital finance; the Startups & Scaleups Awards, where 250 emerging companies compete for a €100,000 Grand Prize; and the Luxembourg Makes It Happen Pavilion, showcasing the country’s innovation ecosystem and technological capabilities.

Artificial intelligence emerged as one of the dominant themes of the opening day. Experts discussed the rapid evolution of AI agents and autonomous systems, highlighting the importance of equipping these technologies with access to tools, long-term memory and effective guardrails to ensure reliability, transparency and safety. Speakers stressed that trust and governance will be essential as AI systems become increasingly integrated into business operations and public services.

Addressing Europe’s position in the global AI race, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden urged greater ambition and speed. “In the race for AI, Europe must be fast. If you fail, that’s just part of the race. The first movers set the standards,” he said, calling on European innovators, startups and policymakers to accelerate the development and adoption of emerging technologies.

Another key topic was European technological sovereignty. Industry leaders explored how direct-to-device (D2D) satellite connectivity could strengthen Europe’s strategic autonomy by providing secure, resilient communications infrastructure from space. The discussions reflected growing interest in reducing dependence on external technologies while expanding Europe’s capabilities in critical sectors such as telecommunications, cybersecurity and space innovation.

Beyond the conference programme, the exhibition floor brought together startups, scaleups and established companies showcasing innovations in AI, fintech, cybersecurity, cloud computing and digital infrastructure. The event also attracted EU policymakers and international investors seeking opportunities within Europe’s rapidly evolving technology landscape.

By combining global expertise with Luxembourg’s strategic position at the heart of Europe, NEXUS Luxembourg 2026 aims to accelerate innovation, encourage cross-border collaboration and reinforce the country’s role as a leading hub for technology and entrepreneurship. As the summit continues through 11 June, discussions are expected to focus on the opportunities and challenges created by AI adoption, digital transformation, financial innovation and Europe’s long-term competitiveness in the global technology race.
